Happy Taxpayer…What The ??????

It’s that time of year again—tax season. If you are cringing right now, you aren’t alone. So many people dread this time of year. Some are anxious- wondering how much they are going to “owe”. Some are waiting in anticipation to see what (if anything) they are going to “get back.”

If I’m being honest, I often have to do some work around this and around my mindset—because I am traditionally someone who owes. With a move this year and having a company, I whole heartedly expect to.

And in our society, it seems like no one wants to pay taxes. We work tirelessly to avoid it and the unspoken message of ‘taxes are bad’ has seeped into our cultural mindset.

If this was 5 or 6 years ago, I’d be sitting in the anxious camp of someone not wanting to pay anything—dreading hearing back from the accountant. But that’s no longer the case.

Around that time, I had a total shift in my mindset about taxes—thanks to the amazing teachings from the late/great Jim Rohn who talks about being a happy tax payer—and that simple (but profound) teaching changed my life! Especially around this time of year. One of my favorite quotes (that I keep in my calendar so it pops up as a reminder each March is,

“Taxes are our way of feeding the goose that lays the golden eggs of freedom, democracy, and enterprise. Someone says, "Well, the goose eats too much." That's probably true. But better a fat goose than no goose at all!” – Jim Rohn

I still have a little normal anticipation this time of year but no longer dread. If I owe, I am happy to pay. Sounds crazy right? But that simple shift in my mindset around this one aspect of money has been life changing for me!

As part of my coaching business, I often work with professionals and people on getting clarity around money, their mindset, needs, rates etc. This money stuff is something that nearly everyone has some “stuff” around.

I am so passionate about bringing the money talk to the forefront, especially for women and what better time than now to start having that conversation with more people…so I have been working on putting together a mini coaching course for that purpose—and am so excited about it -- you can learn more about my new Money, Mindset & Movement course here.

Oh, and if you aren’t familiar with Jim Rohn or his teachings, I encourage you to check them out. There are a variety of videos on YouTube and at https://www.jimrohn.com/.

“Learning is the beginning of wealth. It is the beginning of health. Learning is the beginning of spirituality. Searching and learning is where the miracle process all begins. “ – Jim Rohn.
